Ruru engineers have been working alongside Auckland Council’s Recovery Office to assess the purchase of Auckland properties after the devastation of the 2023 flooding events. These extreme rainfall events left many Auckland homeowners without certainty of their future in the face of torrential flooding.

Ruru engineers have diligently met the owners, listened to their flooding stories, collected evidence of flooding depths and provided categorization to Council risk framework of approximately 100 of these properties. Based on these assessments, Auckland Council may purchase the property to provide high value relief to many families traumatized by the rising risk of flooding across Tamaki Makarau.

This project has had very challenging timelines and expectations but has been incredibly rewarding to our team involved.
